Was 1981 when I , together others Italian pubblic discover FRANCO BATTIATO. He starts to play from '65 but no-one saw his existence. He played progressive rock, (as Italians PFM or English ELP); experimental music; or psychedelic music, as Pink Floyd. He isn't as others Italians singers: he is also a filmmaker and a painter, He loves oriental philosophy and middle-east culture: when he 'mix' all these 'hobbies' he has an incredible success; in '81 with "The Master Voice", La voce del padrone it's the first time in Italy that an LP sold more than 1 million copies. I remember very well: all spring and all summer these songs fly in the Italian wind. In April Pope shoot by an Islamic terrorist: Ali Agcà; the politic situation in my Country was very hard and these songs speaks versus the violence and tell us from others non-violence cultures; or plays only to entertainment ! In these times all songs wrote in Italian language has politic contents; Battiato gives to the music is very role: to entertain , to dance and to stay together. After that incredible success he continues in his 'experiments' , writes classic music; , electronic, etnic, folck and traditional music; songs very appreciates for contents and civil care. Now , sometimes, he amazing us with some new songs, or concert. Thanks, Battiato, for all.
