UMBERTO TOZZI becomes famous in America in 1982, after Laura Branigan publish Gloria with her first album recorded in Great Britain. The song has an incredible success in all the world.
Born in Turin in '52, Tozzi Umberto in '68 starts to play music only when he was 16 years ol in Tourin, with one of little 'off bands', but will be in Milan, when he met Adriano Pappalardo, with whom he formed a 13-piece band and began a large-scale Italian tour he will do the very big music experiences. In 1974 he has the firs success as songwriter with 'Un corpo e un anima' It appeared on Canzonissima, one of most important Italian Tv music programm. In 1977 one of Tozzi's most famous songs was released- "Ti amo".It stayed at number one on the Italian charts for seven months, outselling every other record, and went on to become an international success throughout continental Europe. It also made some inroads in the Americas and Australia, primarily in discotheques. The single was awarded a gold record award in Australia, despite the fact that it only made number 25 on the charts there in late 1979. 1978 saw the release of Tu, and the following year Umberto Tozzi recorded perhaps his most famous song, "Gloria".
Umberto Tozzi's style: his style is the "perfect Italian latin lover" of the time. His hair, his dress, his 'style' is the same of thousand of 'Italian latin lovers' ( or people belives to be one of that...) . I didn't read that important thing of modern italian society in media, but that's the thruth.
After these two big succes He wrote ather song, but he didn't more international success, also in Italy he selled very much for all '80's. In 1987 won the Sanremo Music Festival with the song "Si può dare di più" n.14 of that playlist ("More can be given"), sung with Gianni Morandi and Enrico Ruggeri.
