CLAUDIO VILLA, THE LITTLE KING OF ROME

CLAUDIO VILLA was the most important and loved singer of 'Italian melodic song..
For that one I, and the most part of my contemporaries, hated that man.
He has a very good voice, but too clear, too perfect, - he was a tenor - and his songs were only the old songs of italian music', where the content was:" the sun, the love, the beach and the mum", that rappresented all we hated and all we wanted to destroy....
Many years after to that time, now, we are men, not more teenager with big ideals, and we must to go to work to pay tax, and today I'd like to show You Claudio Villa, as singer, not as man with his political ideas, but one of most powerful voices of Italian Song.
The songs' repertory of Claudio Villa were the traditional neapolitan songs; the traditional roman songs; love songs and that kind of music called in my Country "La canzone melodica italiana".
Borns in 1926, in Trastevere - a famous and tipically Rome's quartier - Villa was the best interpreter of Folk traditional roman song, as the 'stornelli romani', ( n. 13-14 of hat plalist sungs together Gabriella Ferri, another tipically roman folk singer
Together with Domenico Modugno he holds the record for the most wins at the Sanremo Music Festival, where he won the competition in 1955, 1957, 1962 and 1967!!
That one and his caracter takes to him the surname: "The little King" - 'Il reuccio'.
Claudio Villa dies in 1987, after recorded centuries of songs and made many movies as actor.
